Case Study #4

COPD in India

We welcomed 30 healthcare students (14 from India, 16 from other 11 countries) for our 4th case study on ‘‘COPD in India’’, which spanned over 3 weeks in December 2023.

Since there have been intense research studies around the aetiology and the medical management of COPD, we chose ‘‘What is the role of pulmonary rehabilitation in COPD and in improving quality of life of patients?’’ as our main question for this case study.

Dr Sahana (Consultant pulmonologist in Apollo Clinic), Ms Gayatri (Respiratory therapist at Saveetha Medical College) and Dr Monica (Director and head of training programmes, Chest Research and Training) supervised this case study and provided lectures around COPD in India from their professional and local perspectives.

We are currently in the process of conducting an additional systematic review to publish a report for this case study.
